Theater, Theater, and More Theater

April 29, 2012

I’ve been seeing a great deal of theater in Philly lately, and I couldn’t be happier about that fact. I grew up on theater. When I was a kid, my parents took my sister and I to the Civic Theater at Loch Haven in Orlando, where we had season tickets to their Children’s Theater. I idolized the actors and just fell in love with theater. I even took a dozen or so classes there. I’ve never been much for being on stage (I preferred being on props or costumes or something), but I love sitting back and watching a production. So getting to write theater reviews for CultureMob.com is basically a dream gig for me.

Below are reviews for some of the shows I’ve seen lately. Robin Hood and My Fair Lady are still running, and I’ll be posting a review of Boston Marriage later in the week. Do go support these wonderful theater companies if you can.

A Review of Robin Hood at Arden Theatre Company

A Review of My Fair Lady at Act II Playhouse

A Review of Romeo & Juliet at Lantern Theater Company (written mostly by my friend Laura)

A Review of Cyrano at Arden Theatre Company

A Review of Let’s Pretend We’re Famous at 1812 Productions

A Review of Clybourne Park at Arden Theatre Company

You should definitely check out Titus Andronicus at the Philly Shakespeare Theater. I saw it last weekend (this Saturday is the final show) and it was awesome. Puppets…stage blood…dismembered body parts…shadow play….just awesome.
