Writing
I have been writing stories and articles for a long as I can remember. I started out as a copy editor for my middle school newspaper, The Portable Quarterly. I went on to become a primary copy writer for an award winning high school yearbook, and eventually became the news editor for my high school newspaper. In college, I was a features writer for The Grotto, an independent magazine distributed to five area colleges.
These days, I write and manage The Convention Fans Blog. Articles from this blog have been featured on Fark.com, Daily Kos, Fandango.com’s Movie Blog, numerous fan sites, message boards, and blogs (it was even mentioned on CNN once!). Convention Fans was the top traffic Today.com blog for December ‘08, January, February, and June ‘09.
For several months I also wrote for Alltern8.com, an online community for gamers, LARPers, cosplayers, and more. I coverd cosplay news and fandom convention events for Alltern8.com. You can see a summary list of all of my Alltern8 articles by clicking here.
You can also find some of my writing at Associated Content, CultureMob, and Voyages magazine. I am the “Philadelphia Festivals, Events, and Conventions” and “Geek Culture” reporter for CultureMob.
I have experience writing press releases, feature stories, daily blog content, fiction, and news stories, as well as conducting interviews. I am also experienced in editing academic manuscripts, and implementing APA and Chicago manuals of style.
